福建地处东南沿海，海岸线漫长曲折，长达3051千米，海域面积13．6万平方
千米。明清时期是东南沿海的多事之秋，也是中国军事史上的转型时期，为了应对
海疆形势的变化，福建水师不断发展、演变，承担着维护海疆安宁的职责。明代抗
击倭寇与海盗，明后期抗击西方殖民者；清前期统一台湾……福建水师发挥了积极
作用。由于福建水师在海战中得到历练，多次派往沿海同他省水师进行交流，为提
高东南水师的整体水平做出了贡献。明清的中后期，福建水师基本处于衰落的状态，
留下不少教训。但不应该以后期的衰败否定其曾经的积极意义。福建水师是旧式水
师中发展最突出的，福建又是近代海军萌芽之地。因此明清时期福建水师起着承上
启下的作用。本文拟通过探讨：明清时期海疆危机中，福建水师的发展及阶段性变
化，从中总结经验教训，祈望对我国当代海军的发展建设提供历史的借鉴。
