You are expected to Understand theories and research conclusions thoroughly Apply to a specific case properly Find out the limitations and give recommendations to the theories or to the specific case Some good examples of group discussion on their leaders with application of theories are given here. Do read them carefully and pay attention to the way how theories are related to their own experience. Group 1-Trait theories We chose her as our leader because she has great presentation skill, job-related knowledge,quick reaction and she’s creative 、good at handcrafting and willing to listen to others. Group 1- Behavioural theories- Managerial Grid Our leader’s leadership style fell in (9,9) in the managerial grid. (She’s willing to listen to others and good at communication and see to the task accomplishment in the meantime.) Group 2-Trait theories We chose him as our leader because he’s strong, extrovert, conscientious, and he knew how to build a bridge. Group 2- Behavioural theories Our leader applied task-oriented style. (He guided us to build the bridge and organize to do our own assignment. ) The plan is not perfect because the team had no time to discuss. The leader should have put more attention to the teams’ oppinions. Group 2- SLT(Hersey and Blanchard) Group 3- Trait theories We chose him as our leader as he was responsible, had boundaries in his life and kept his promises.
