In this paper, the Foshan city of Guangdong province is selected as the research area, and the data used are the remote sensing images of Foshan city in 2001 and 2016. Remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS) are used to analyze the change of land use in this area. The results showed that the land use change in Foshan changed greatly in the last 2001-2016 years. Between various types of land use conversion will change; which is the largest volume of urban land and arable land; urban land from the land; forest and grassland in the water decreased; is also reduced, but slightly reduced; the other with the total amount of fluctuation is large, relatively large proportion. The land use change in the study area is mainly affected by population and economic factors.
