The Development of Pragmatics in China China West Normal University The School of Foreign Language Gong Hong The Development of Pragmatics in China Abstract: The passage presents the content about development of pragmatics in China.Nowadays,pragmatics has been one of the most potential and prevalent areas to explore and probe into by experiencing over twenty-year circuitous and intricate development.Firstly,the article detailedly represents the complex process of pragmatics’ development in China,in which introduces from the beginning of pragmatics’ study about the translation of How to Do Things with Words by Xu Guozhang to up-to-date fresh domestic views and works of pragmatics.Then,the passage expresses those current situation and condition about pragmatic research in China,showing from three aspects:(1) the characteristics for study of pragmatic theory in China;(2) the characteristics for application of pragmatics in China;(3) the tendency of pragmatics’ development in China.Finally,the passage attaches importance to directions and ways of domestic to develop in future.
