Today, my topic is about Linguistic Difference between Man and Woman. I think this presentation is useful for all of you to get on well with others. So I hope you listen carefully.2、My presentation includes three parts, Linguistic[l??gw?st?k] difference, Reasons for such difference and Ways to avoid contradictory [k?ntr?d?kt(?)r?]. 3、So, first , let’s go to the part one, Linguistic difference. As we all know, men and women are the main bodies in social activities. Because of the gender difference, there exist many differences when people use language. Then we can see the Linguistic difference between man and woman in the following five parts. Vocabulary, Intonation [?nt?ne??(?)n]?, Topic selection, Goal of using language and Manner of speaking .4、For the vocabulary, man widely use rude word or exclamations?[ekskl?me??(?)n]（感叹词）to show their inner feelings, such as “shit”, “damn”. As for exclamations，men usually use “lord”, “good lord”, “good heaven”, “bless my soul”. Women are not expected to use strong expletives [?kspli?t?vs], but are encouraged to use weaker ones like “oh dear”, “my god [ɡ?d]” and so on. There is an example shows the vocabulary difference between men and women. Shit, you’ve put the peanut butter in the refrigerator [r?fr?d??re?t?] again. Oh dear, you’ve put the peanut butter in the refrigerator again. 5、In terms of intonation, men and women also display some difference. Men usually use alto [?lt??]?voice, making their speech sound steady. While women tend to command a wider range of intonation, making their speech sound somewhat affected.6、Men and women are also found different in topic selection. For example, politics [p?l?t?ks], economics [i?k?n?m?ks;], sports and cars are major topics chosen by men.7、While family, child-bearing [t?aild,b??ri?] and personal relationship are the ones for women.
