Definition of Marine Insurance It is a contract whereby the insurer undertakes to indemnify the insured, in manner and to the extend thereby agreed, against marine losses. In the export trade, marine insurance is usual to arrange an extended marine insurance in order to cover the transportation of goods from the warehouse of the seller to the port of dispatch, and from the port of arrival to the warehouse of the overseas buyer. Relevant Conception Insurer: the party who insures others against loss or damage and undertakes to make payment in case of loss. Insured: the party who is insured against loss or damage and to whom payment covering the loss will be made . Insurance policy: the contract made between the insured and insurer specifying the exact losses to be covered and the costs to the insured. Relevant Conception Insurance certificate: a simplified insurance policy. Premium: the sum of money the insured agrees to pay the insurer for an insurance policy. Insurance broker: on behalf of the insured’s benefits. Insurance agent: on behalf of the insurer’s benefits. 2. Risks, Losses and Expenses Perils of the sea 海上风险 Natural calamities 自然灾害 Disasters such as heavy weather, lighting, tsunami, earthquake and flood, ect.
