In more than 2,000 years Confucianism has gradually become the orthodox culture of China and influenced countries in East Asia and Southeast Asia. 2. Have you been to Confucius’ hometown Qufu in Shandong Province? What is Qufu well-known for? Qufu, situated in southwest Shandong Province and with 1/5 of its population surnamed Kong, is an “Oriental Holy City” with the history of over 5,000 years. Qufu is a world-renowned city for close association with Confucius. The three basic attractions in Qufu: The Temple of Confucius, the Mansion of Confucius and the Forest of Confucius, is a symbol in China to commemorate Confucius and advocate Confucianism throughout the dynasties.
