Japanese food culture
The staple(主食) of the Japanese diet is rice or noodles, with soup and dishes made from fish, meat, vegetables and tofu. They are usually low in fat and high in salt.
Foods that are most received by foreigners are tempura (天妇罗), sukiyaki(鸡素烧), sushi(寿司), sashimi(生鱼片), buckwheat noodles (荞麦面) and soybean curd (豆腐).

Tempura 天妇罗
This dish mostly consists of deep-fried eggplant(茄子), squash(南瓜), sweet potato(红薯), and other vegetables, along with shrimp and Fish. Tempura is eaten with a special soy sauce-based dip.
