No spiral stairways unless part of permanent structure. Double cleated ladder or two or more separate ladders when more than 25 employees on jobsite. Access points kept clear at all times or provide additional access points. Employers must provide and install all stairway and ladder fall protection systems required by this subpart before work begins. 1926.1052 - Stairways Landing not less than 30 inches in direction of travel and extend at least 22 inches in width at every 12 feet or less of vertical rise. Stairs installed between 30 to 50 degrees. Riser height and tread depth uniform. Platform for doors which open onto stairway must have additional 20 inches of platform beyond door/gate. Metal pan landings and metal pan treads secured All stairway parts free of hazardous projection Slippery conditions on stairways shall be eliminated Four risers or 30 inches high need handrail and stairrail system on unprotected side. Stairrails 36 inches high, handrails 30 to 37 inches high from edge. Temporary Service All pan stairs shall be filled with wood or concrete or other material while in use. Foot traffic prohibited on skeleton metal stairs unless fitted with secured temporary treads and landings.
