The division into property units and ownership conditions are essential parts of the infrastructure and affect the rural development. I live and work in the county of Dalarna in Central Sweden. There is a unique fragmentation of properties and parcels as shown on this picture. The fragmentation is characterized by small, narrow parcels and frequent joint ownership. Many farmers have their property scattered into 30 - 500 parcels and many of them in joint ownership. This situation causes problems and drawbacks for both the society and the farmers.
