He tries to get Lear to go into an old hut to shelter from the storm, but Lear has become mad after all that has happened to him. An old friend, the Duke of Gloucester finds the King, and he and Kent take him to Gloucesters home. Now they are in Gloucesters bedroom. G: Youll be much warmer in here. K: I thank you for your kindness. Come, Your Majesty, would you like to lie down and rest? L: No, no, not yet. First I must see Goneril in prison. N: Lear points at a stool. L: Here she is. This is the daughter who kicked the king, her poor father. N: He now points at a chair. L: And heres another. She has a heat of stone. Quick, quick, dont let her escape. K: He thinks the furniture is his daughters! The king grows mad. G: Its no wonder with all thats happened to him. He was once a great king and now he has nothing --- no home, no friends, no daughters, no soldiers. N: A servant rushes into the room, bows to everyone and then whispers in Gloucesters ear.
