The modern movie The Pursuit of Happiness through performing dreams making, life faith communication, education ideas shaping and other diversity perspectives, to some extent, not only continues Hollywood “American Dream” trip, but conveys American contemporary mainstream values and life beliefs. The movie was adapted from the memoir The Pursuit of Happyness written by Chris Gardner, the famous stockbroker of America. It’s an inspiring true-to-life, rag-to-riches story. As one of those single fathers, Chris Gardner fought to raise his young son while being homeless and living on the street of San Francisco. Gardner, who served a brief stint in the Navy and had no education beyond high school, would eventually get back on his feet to become a millionaire stockbroker and business owner. From the beginning to the end, this film aims to analyze the Americans “natural right” values on the decisive influence of Chris Gardner’s dream. This essay is mainly based on the film’s major story plot and actor’s lines. Through a brief analysis of the work The Pursuit of Happyness, we can learn “the pursuit of happiness”, “persistence in life faith” and “moral education” three contemporary American mainstream values.
