The reading passage A PIONEER FOR ALL PEOPLE is about an agricultural pioneer named Yuan Longping who worked hard to produce a new strain of rice. This hybrid strain of rice produces a higher amount of rice from the same area of land. It has proved so successful that the United Nations is encouraging him to teach other countries how to grow it,
2.学情分析(analysis of the students)
Ss in this generation may be not familiar with agricultural practices. They may eager to explain what they know or what they have observed about farming. As to the reading passage, Ss are required to read the passage again and again

So after reading the passage about Dr Yuan students will know the importance of his achievement to man. Of course they will learn from Dr Yuan some noble character.
