Introduction As the awareness of environment protection in all walks of life is being built up, non-leakage pumps such as canned motor pumps and magnetic pumps are being used widely in many industries. One of the key technologies for canned motor pumps is the balance of axial force on the rotating part. In case such a balance of axial force is broken in operation, the canned motor pump will be damaged rapidly affecting the normal production process. Model DCH-106 axial displacement monitor is designed to monitor any axial displacement of the rotating part in the canned motor pump. It can detect any change in the axial balance caused by abnormality and give alarm signals. II. Work principle Working with the principle of current vortex, this monitor is comprised of two parts, the measure meter and the magnetic sensor. The measure meter is installed on the rear bearing block made of nonmagnetic materials, while the magnetic sensor is installed on the screw at the shaft end and moves with the rotating part. Any change in the gap between the two parts corresponds to the change in the magnetic field strength detected by the measure meter. Therefore, the measure meter can detect any axial displacement of the rotating part through any change in the magnetic field strength. This monitor shows the detected displacement on the LED digital display at the field. It gives LED indications with the normal operation zone (the green LED lights up), the alarm zone (#1 red LED lights up), or the interlocking shutdown zone (#2 red LED lights up), and can output the switching value and the 4-20 mA remote signal.
