It occurs on the fifth day of the fifth month on the lunar calendar. It is one of the most important Chinese holidays. The other two are Moon Festival and Chinese New Year. 　　Three centuries ago, a famous Chinese scholar-statesman, Chu-Yuan (屈原), helped the king the Chu Dynasty. 　　Chu-Yuan did many wonderful things for the Chu Dynasty and he was trusted by the king and loved by many people. There were, however, bad and jealous people who didnt like Chu-Yuan. They began to whisper rumors and lies about him to the king, who gradually began to dislike Chu-Yuan as well.Chu-Yuan felt sad because his king and country had turned against him. At the age of 37, he clasped with a stone to his chest and jumped into Milo River in Hunan Province.　　Today, Chinese people everywhere do activities to remember and show respect for Chu-Yuan.
