Culture Differences Between America and China 张纪林 With regard to the cultural differences between China and the United states, it is bound to be a endless discussion. As we all know ,the first difference is our language, we speaking Chinese and they speaking American English. But it is only a very little part among all the differences. As a consequence today I want to share my own opinion with you on the discussion. The main differences Writing Future or History Dynamic or Static (静态与动态) Informality or Formality Writing In the U.S essays（文学作品）, writers organize the information they would like to express before they put down the words. In general, what they will emphasis is put on the first part, that is, the opening; writers deliver their attitudes, views or conclusions. And then the causes, facts, conditions come and form a linear chain（连成一串). On the contrary, Chinese essays are written by natural orders. What the writers think about first comes first. Following examples reflect this difference. Millions of people thought the world are in debt to the author for the service he rendered in that book by tearing aside the curtain of lies and slanders about China put up by the enemy of revolution and socialism. If translated into Chinese, the above would be, 反对革命和社会主义的敌人对中国散布了种种造谣毁谤的烟幕。作者在这本书里都把它们一一揭穿了。对于他做出的这一功绩，世界上千千万万的人们都要感谢的。 In Chinese way, we often say, 经过许多年和外界的隔离， 现在收到你的信，我感到非常高兴。 But English says, I am very glad to have received your letter after so many years of isolation. Future or History Unlike Chinese people, the U.S people are generally less concerned about history and traditions. History doesnt matter, many of them will say, It is the future that counts. They look ahead. They have the idea that what happens in the future is within their control, or at least subject to their influence. They believe that people, as individuals or working cooperatively together can change most aspects of the physical and social environment if
