Bangladesh Market Demand for local The demand for the local garlic is about 60% of the total demand. Mostly the rural area people like this quality and it is generally believed that the garlic of such kind is more spicy than the chinese garlic. Some of the buyers are true lover of this variety - for such group of people they dont mind to buy the smaller and local garlic even at much higher price than the chinese bigger size garlic. . I remember at sometime we bought smaller chinese garlic whose size varies from 2cm to 3cm and sold them at higher price as those group of people believed them to be local origin. These group of people are about 30%. ?Sometime we felt that that demand is nearly double than our local demand for chinese garlic. This particular trade often confuses us for the demand resulting overtrade and bigger loss. 5. Bangladesh Market demand for international garlic? Bangladesh crop cannot meet the whole demand of the country. So, we do import from China and India. Chinese garlic has bigger share of the market in case of imported garlic. Because of the nature and size of the garlic and ease of use, there are some true lover of the chinese garlic. That is why we see chinese garlic being sold at sometime nearly 1.5 times more than local garlic. . Specially in Urban area people like Chinese garlic. The demand for Chinese garlic is about 25-30% of the total demand of the country. But sometimes the demand seems much bigger - because of the Chinese garlic passing through border illegally.
