Flammable Gases and Flammable Liquids:可燃气体和易燃液体

Flammable Gases and CHAPTER 3 Flammable Liquids n industrial settings, large inventories of flammable gases and flammable liquids are Ioften stored for eventual use in connection with the manufacturing and processing of commercial products. Some flammable gases and flammable liquids are also found within residential environments, albeit in lesser amounts. Given the commonplace nature of these hazardous materials, thousands of emergency incidents involving them occur annually. While we will note the hazardous properties of individual flammable gases and flammable liquids elsewhere within this book, we shall note their common features in this chapter. We shall also review the safety practices that OSHA mandates when employers store flammable gases and flammable liquids in the workplace. Finally, we will examine the procedures implemented by emergency responders when an incident involves the release of flammable gases and flammable liquids into the environment. Performance Goals for Section 3.1 For flammable liquids, discuss the concept of a lower and upper explosive limit, flammable range, flashpoint, fire point, kindling point, and autoignition point. Describe a flammable liquid as the term is used by OSHA and the NFPA. When provided with a liquid’s flashpoint and boiling point, demonstrate how Figure 3.3 may be used to appropriately classify it as a flammable liquid or comb
