Frame Relay provides the same advantages to voice as it does to data, with the introduction of the Voice Frame Relay Access Device (VFRAD). The customer no longer has to lease dedicated lines between locations. Instead, Frame Relay makes it possible to have a single line, the cost of which is not sensitive to distance. VFRAD’s have the added advantage of being able to multiplex voice and data on the same access line.
