Title: R. P. 2160 ETHICS OF MARRIAGE AND THE FAMILY 婚姻與家庭倫理學 Number of units: 3 units (3,2,1) Prerequisite: Any first level R.P. subject Level: II Aims: 1. To help students acquire an in-depth understanding of the moral issues concerning marriage and the family. 2. To help students learn more about themselves and understand the appropriate ways in relating to their family members. Objectives: 1. To help students aware of the ethical problems in marriage and the family in the Hong Kong context. 2. To help students apply moral theories and principles so as to facilitate morally acceptable solutions. Subject Description: This subject begins with a brief introduction to the history of the structure of the traditional Chinese and Christian families. Students will then be introduced to the debates over marriage and the family in the end of the 20th Century and are expected to gain a thorough view of the relevant ethical issues. By applying moral theories and principles, students are encouraged to make relevant moral judgments on them. Reference: 1.
