AbstractWest-East electricity transmission and Nationwide power network is the development strategy of Chinas power industry, which can solve the imbalance of energy resources and load distribution among various regions, utilize energy in the most cost-effective manner, and obtain notable economic benefits. As some prominent features of HVDC technology, it will plays an important role in the project of “ West-East electricity transmission” and “Nationwide power network”. Therefore, China will form a power grid in which more multi-circuit HVDC systems operate in parallel, and the application of multi-circuit HVDC system will increasingly widespread in the near future. This paper focuses on the coordinated control problems of the multi-circuit HVDC system which is still a new area for research, and research on the coordinated control scheme for such HVDC system based on wide-area measurement system.1、 The characteristics of HVDC system and the corresponding control strategiesare described. Then taking Central China - East China Power Grid and Southern Power Grid as examples, the development of HVDC system in China and the necessity of its formation in the future is analyzed. The current research situation of HVDC transmission system and its related area are reviewed, too.2、The concept of wide area measurement system and its inevitably applications inthe future power system are described. Simultaneously, coordinated control technologies are elaborated. Based on the wide area measurement techniques, the coordinated control mode of HVDC system is elicited, analyzed and explained.3 、 Using central China-East China Power Grid system as the background, thesimulation model of Central China - East China Power Grid multi-circuit HVDC system is set up by use of PSCAD/EMTDC software, and its correctness is also verified.4、By simulating the fault of HVDC system model, the impact of HVDC system isanalyzed.
