AbstractAccordingtothedifferenceofvariousdegreeadverbsandthesemanticfeatures,emotionalcolors,andscalestandardsofthemodalwordsattheendofthesentences,thecombinationofdegreeadverbsandmodalwordsattheendofthesentenceshasdifferentoptions,suchasthecombinationofthedegreeadverb“也”andthemodalword了”,orthecombinationof“怪”and“的”.Intheprocessofthiskindofmutualselectionandcontrast,somecombinationslike“太……了”and“怪……的”haveformedafixedandstablestructure,whichshowsitsuniquegrammaticalfunction.We’vefoundthat“太……了”“怪……的”,whicharethecombinationsofthedegreeadverbs“太”“怪”andthemodalwords“了”“的”,arethebasicformsforthedegreeadverbs“太”“怪”tobepredicatetomodifyadjectives.However,“了”“的”arenotmandatoryingredientsinthestructuresof“太……了”“怪……的”.Accordingtothecontextandthepragmaticneeds,wearegivenchoicesofco-occurrenceandnotco-occurrence.Whenthedegreeadverbmodifyinganadjectiveaspredicate,themodalwordsinthestructure“了”“的”canberegardedasanattachedcomponentinthegrammaticalaspect,whichhastwocases—co-occurrenceandnotco-occurrence.Thecombinationsofthemodalwords“了”“的”andthedegreeadverbs“太”“怪”innotco-occurrencecasearerare,andgenerallyexistincomplexsentencesasaclausepart.Besides,intheresearchofthenegativecasesofco-occurrenceandnotco-occurrenceinthecombinationsofdegreeadverbsandmodalwords,wefoundthatdifferentdegreeadverbshavedifferentexternalformswithslightdifferenceinsemanticpointingwheninoppositedistributionandexpressingnegativeintention.Inordertoexplorethereasonsfortheco-occurrencecaseofdegreeadverbslike“太”“怪”andmodalwordslike“了”“的”,we’llstudytheinternalmechanismofthefixedcombinationsof“太……了”,”太……”,“怪……的”and“怪……”.Regardingtothedevelopmentprocessofaccidentalcombinationsontheexpressionfordifferentdegreeofsubjectivefeelingstorelativelyfixedstructureform,webelievethatthedifferencebetween“太……了”and“太……”ismainlyduetoCompleteSentenceTheory,SentenceBoundarizationandTense-bodyCorrespondence,whilethedifferencebetween“怪……的”and“怪……”ismainlycausedbyHighlightingNeedandFocusTheory.Yet,thestructuredifferenceof“太……了”and“怪……的”is
