Stage1 Daily Report
Ask the student on duty to make a daily report, encouraging him or her to speak more about legend. While listening, the students make some notes. Then ask some students to retell what the reporter said.

The teacher would offer some background information about creativity, so as to help the students to better understand the text.
Legend usually refers to a story handed down from earlier times. People believe that the heroes or events described in the stories contain some elements of truth. Different from legend, myth tends to focus on superhuman animals and gods. Fables are stories with morals in them. China is a country rich in myths, legends and fables, for instance, Hua Mulan, Lotus Lantern, Monkey King, Three at Dusk and Four at Dawn, His Spear against His Shield, etc. When telling stories, people usually convey their beliefs, customs and moral principles. And in this way they become cultural treasures that educate and unite people around common beliefs. Storytelling is an important form of entertainment. With the advent of radio and television, however there are fewer and fewer storytellers. Instead of gathering around the teller, people now usually sit in front of television sets. However, by reading the written forms of stories from different cultures, we can enjoy the traditional myths and legends. Besides, we can discover some of the universal characteristics of humankind.
Step2 Topics for discussion
1. Get the students to go through the topics in the Lead-in of Text A on the textbook. And then they can choose any topic at will to have a discussion among the group members.
