Mobile/Pensacola/Biloxi RegionHSOP – 4th year Rotations Rotation Locations Mobile Internal Medicine – USA Medical Center Internal Medicine – Mobile Infirmary Internal Medicine/Primary Care – USA Women’s and Children’s Primary Care – VA Mobile Primary Care – USA Family Practice Internal Medicine/Primary Care – Mobile Mental Health Drug Information – Mobile Infirmary HSP – Mobile Infirmary, USA Medical Center, USA Women’s and Children Community – CVS, Target, WalMart, Lillian Elective – Searcy State Hospital USAMC - Mobile The University of South Alabama Medical Center is a 346-bed acute care facility, which serves as the primary teaching hospital for the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. It is the major referral center for southern Alabama, southern Mississippi, and portions of northwest Florida. The Medical Center offers many facilities, including centers for Level I Trauma, Burn Center, Cardiovascular Disease, Strokes, Organ Transplantation, and Sickle Cell Disease. Its sophisticated technology, combined with the desire, dedication, and determination of an acclaimed professional staff allows patients to receive the finest medical care available. Internal Medicine University of South Alabama Medical Center is a teaching site for medical students, internal medicine residents, nursing students, and physician assistant students. The internal medicine service consists of four teams, each managed by an attending physician and a supervising resident. The teams vary in size, but usually consist of 2-3 internal medicine residents or interns, several medical students, and a pharmacy student. Each student will provide pharmaceutical care to the patients cared for by one of the teams, with the supervision of the preceptor. In this setting the student will have opportunity to communicate (both orally and in writing) with physicians, patients, and other health care professionals.
