Task Card Choose one of the following tasks to complete. Your group must turn in the completed assignment at the end of the activity. Once your group has assigned roles (materials collector, recorder, timekeeper, and technology specialist) and chosen a problem to complete (#1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6), it is time to begin. Gather your materials and head out into the sunshine! ( Task # 1 As a group, read p.304 #41,42 entitled “Towers.” Your goal is to use this method to find the height of the tree near the picnic tables. You must include in your findings the following information: A diagram with the measurements taken The mathematical steps taken to arrive at your answer. Show all steps! A description of the major geometry concept stemming from this problem. An analysis of solving this problem. (How did your group solve this problem? What were your thought processes while deciding on your method of solution? What kinds of variables or situations were out of your control? Did anything prove difficult for your group to handle?) A similar problem, using this topic to solve, in word problem format. Materials Needed: pencil/paper TI-83+ calculator Dimensionator Mirror Glencoe Geometry book Task # 2 Calculate the angle of elevation for the wheelchair ramp from the blue benches to the first floor level of A-building. You must include in your findings: A diagram with the measurements taken The mathematical steps taken to arrive at your answer. Show all steps!
