ABSTRACTABSTRACTThisthesisbriefsummarizedthefundamentalproperties,preparationmethods,characterizationtechniquesandrecentachievementsofmelamine-formaldehyde(MF)aerogels.Basedonaseriesofexperiments,thepreparationprocessofMFaerogelwasimproved,andwealsodevelopedthepreparationmethodsofphenolandmetaloxidedopedMFaerogelswhichhavepotentialapplicationininertiaconstraintfusion(ICF)experiments.Theinvestigationandcorrespondingresultsmainlyincludes:MFaerogelswithnanonetworkstructurewerepreparedbysol-gelprocess,solventexchangeandsupercriticaldrying.Theeffectofreactantconcentrationandgelationtemperaturetogelationtimehasbeenanalyzed.Thedevelopmentofparticlesorclustersderivedfromreactantswascontinuouslyobservedtoverifythesol-geltheory.ThealkaliwasaddedtosoltoimprovethepreparationprocessofMFaerogel.TheresultsindicatedthatthegelationtimeofMFsolwasshortenedandthedensityofMFaerogelwasdecreased.TheDmol3andsemi-empiricalVampmodulesofMaterials-Studiosoftwarewereemployedtosimulatetheoptimalpreparationconditions.Thesimulationresultrevealedthattheincreaseoftemperaturecanacceleratethegelationreactionrateandthegelationtimecanbesignificantlyshortenedbythesubstitutionofwaterwithdimethylsulfoxide(DMSO)asasolventingelationprocess.TheresultsofFouriertransforminfraredspectroscopy(FTIR)spectrumsshowedthatthereisnoobviousdifferenceinchemicalstructureofMFaerogelspreparedbydifferentmethods,exceptthesamplepreparedinDMSO.Duetotheeffectofhighertemperature,thissamplepresentsastrongerstretchingvibrationpeakofC-Hbond.TheporositiesoftheMFaerogelsweredeterminedbyhighresolutiontransmissionelectronmicroscopy(HRTEM),fieldemissionscanningelectronmicroscope(FESEM)andBrunmaner-Emmett-Teller(BET)methods.Theresultsindicatedthattheaerogelpreparedbytraditionalmethodwassuperiortosamplespreparedbyothertwomethodsinstructurehomogeneity.PhenolmodifiedMFaerogelswithnanonetworkstructurewerepreparedbyaddingresorcintoMFsolsystem,followedbyCO2supercriticaldryingprocess.TheABSTRACTresultsindicatedthatphenolmodifiedMFaerogelshadshort
