Methods 120 pregnant women were enrolled in our study. We used the ultrasound imaging technique to indentify the space between the third and fourth lumbar vertebrae, and measured the distance from skin to ligamentum flavum. Measured the actual needle length after we finished the anesthesia. The age, height and weight of the pregnant women were recorded. Results The correlation coefficient among the distance from skin to ligamentum flavum with the height, weight and body mass index was 0.13, 0.59 and 0.57 respectively. Conclusion The correlation between the distance from skin to ligamentum flavum with the weight is better than the height and body mass index, but we should measure the distance by ultrasound.
