This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). /licenses/by/4.0/ Abstract The lumped Xin’anjiang model, semi-distributed TopModel model and distributed VIC model were selected for rainfall runoff simulation in order to compare the suitability in the plain lake region. The Boyang and Xi River sub-basins in the Poyang Lake uncontrolled intervening basin were used to calibrate and verify these hydrological models. Application results show that the model effi- ciency of VIC model is 10% higher than those of Xinanjiang and TopModel models, the relative er- ror of total runoff is within 5% and much better than other two models. The distributed VIC model performs much better than lumped and semi-distributed models and is able to simulate rainfall runoff and water resources well in lake area. Keywords Hydrological Model
