The DNA of the object logs are extracted under the CTAB method and purified, then a PCR expansion of the ITS rDNA is conducted. Afterwards the PCR positive product is cloned and sequenced, on the the results of which a Blast analysis is done and phylogenetic tree construced. The outcome shows that 9 of the 47 submitted logs are Alseodaphne . In this study, the species of the logs are successfully identified using the phylogenetic analysis of ITS sequence fragment which provides a reliable expert opinion for similar forensic identification cases in the future.
