“SAN” stands for Storage Area Network. In a LAN, multiple computers connect to a server that share files. But in a SAN, multiple computers are connected directly to the same storage device. Since computers talk directly to the storage, performance can be much better as there is no middle man. The primary reason people are therefore looking into SAN, is to achieve performance level not possible on a LAN. But just connecting a bunch of computers to the same storage device creates problem. That’s because individual computers are not aware that other machines are connected to the same stor
