[Abstract] Objective: To investigate the expression of glycoprotein 34 in the development of gastric
carcinoma and discuss their relations w ith clinical significance. M ethods: The expression of glycoprotein
34 mRN and protein was detected by RTPCR and mi munohistochem ical technique in 18 healthy volun
teers( group ), 30 patientsw ith chronic atrophicgastritis( group B), 24 patientsw ith early gastric carcino
ma( group C), and 48 patientsw ith advanced gastric carcinoma( groupD). Res lts: The expression of gly
coprotein 34mRN were 0. 093 0. 010, 0. 211 0. 023, 0. 258 0. 017 and 0. 259 0. 021, in nor
ma,l chronic atrophic gastritis, early gastric carcinoma and advanced gastric carcinom a respectively. The
positive rateof glycoprotein 34were 5. 56% , 33. 33%, 70. 83% , 75. 00% , respectively. Therewere sta
tisticaldifference among group , B and C(P 0. 05) and no statisticaldifference between group C and D
(P 0. 05). Concl sion: The expression of glycoprotein 34were enhanced gradual
