Departm ent of Civil Eng. , Jinan University, Jinan 250022, China) Abstract: In the pastm any researchers have stud ied dynam ic stiffness and damping coefficients of surface and em- bedded rigid foundationsw ith arb itrary shapes in the elastic homogenous half space. Dynam ic stiffness and damping coefficients are obtained by using regu larly shaped foundations instead of arbitrarily shaped ones. In add ition, the wt o parameters abovem entioned are calcu lated only in the case of a only single foundation. But the cases of wt o and more foundations are not presented because the interactions bewt een foundations are not considered in all present papers. This paper elmi inates tw o fau lts above by using the assumption of the plane strain and coefficients of dy- nam ical interactions bewt een foundations to soil deposits.
