Unit 2 Project Growing Pains Teaching Aims By the end of the class, 1) all the students are able to comprehend the basic knowledge about growing pains, such as the definition and the types. 2) 80% of the students are able to write a report on one specific type of growing pains. I Lead-in: Game Time! Growing pains As we grow up, we face many difficulties with parents, friends and even ourselves. Step II Skimming Understanding growing pains Skim the text and answer the following questions. (P38) 1. What are growing pains? (no more than 10 words) Difficulties teenagers face as they grow to adults. (L10-11) 2. What is adolescence? (no more than 6 words) Time between child and adult. (L6) 3. How many kinds of growing pains are mentioned in the text? (within 2 words) 3/ 3 kinds. Step III Scanning Getting to know more about growing pains Decide the type of growing pains Physical changes Psychological changes Social changes Step V Writing an outline for your report Preparing Choose one type of growing pains for your report.
