Before doing the exercise, ask the students to do the following: Before the Ss listen, look at the pictures to help the Ss guess what to listen for. While the Ss listen, pay attention to the words which sound like clues to a puzzle or problem. Listen carefully to the question at the end and use the clues the Ss have got to help the SS solve the puzzle or problem. b. Play the recording once and have students to get a general idea about a puzzle or a problem. c. Play the recording a second time. Ask students to begin to solve the puzzle or problem. Pay attention to the explanations and questions on the recording. Find the right answers to the questions. d. Check the exercise in groups. e. Ask students to read out their answers. 3. Speaking (1) Talk time---Leaving and taking phone messages Sometimes when we telephone people, they are not there. So we have to leave messages for them, or arrange for them to call us back.
