* So the more the environment is improved, the higher the performance of the team will be. There is clear evidence that this relationship holds up in the actual workplace: in tracking the correlation between climate and a variety of performance measures, we have seen positive correlations between good organizational climates and profitability and sales in private sector, patient satisfaction (healthcare) and student advancement and achievement in education, to name a few. Leadership directly affects the way people feel about working for this leader. The leader creates the climate. Hay Group research shows that leadership accounts for an average of 70% of the variance in climate. Positive climate is even more important nowadays. First, in organizations success is dependent on contribution of knowledge workers, not workers providing physical labour. With knowledge workers there is a big difference between those who just do a good job and those who really give it their all. It is a matter of whether their brains are fully switched on. Second, while the workplace of today in Russia may be an exiting place to work, it is also an increasingly stressful place with high customer demands, information overload, high pace of change, urgency to make instant decisions, work needs to be coordinated with efforts of colleagues in other locations many time zones away. The better the climate, the more people will be able to focus on contributing their best to advance the company – rather than feeling confused, frustrated, and unmotivated. What is it, a positive climate? What great workplace you ever worked had the most positive climate? Which conditions existed? What was your performance?
