In the expermi ents, a ir and w ater w ere u sed as flow ing m ed ium. The test sections w ere sm ooth g lass tube of 5 m long, and the inside diam eters w ere 15, 25 and 34. 5 mm, respect ively. B ased on the v is ual observat ion and the ana lysis of expermi enta l data, it w as found that flow patternsw ith ro lling m otion w ere differ ent from that o f steady cond ition. Com paring w ith the steady cond ition, the d ifferentia l pressure fluctuation curves in the reg ion of slug f low, bubble flow and annu lar f low show ed obv iou s cyc lical variat ion, but this periodic fluctua t ion phenom enon was not found in churn flow.
