A bstract: The current crisis in fresh water shortage, water degeneration and the decrease of biological diversity
which harms the sustainable developm ent of the society of human being arises a new discipline ofEco- hydrology.
Eco-hydrology is a cross discipline of ecology and hydrology. Its study has aw idespread application in environmen-
tal sustainability, restoration and rehabilitation of degraded land and biological conservation. I also propose the
trend of study in this field in China.
