I’d contribute it to the fact that criminals find it easier to hide their identity and remain undetected as they prey on innocent web surfers. For instance, the computer savvy can steal any of your personal data from your birth date to your credit card number without your knowledge as technology these days can track every move you make on the net. While it’s never happened to me, I’ve heard of a number of people who have had the bitter experience of things showing up on their credit card bill that they didn’t actually buy.
