Ltd., Maanshan 243000, Anhui China ) Abstract : Tension leveller is very important equipment for strip production. The main gearbox of the tension leveller of the cold-rolling mill of a steel plant is a 2-DOF difference gear-system. In the system, the sun gear, the planet gears, gear ring and planetary frame operate simultaneously. Their trajectories are very complex. In order to study the vibration causes of the 1# bevel gearbox and the main gearbox, their vibration signals were tested and analyzed. The results show that there exists poor gear meshing and the severe damage of the planet gears in the planetary gearbox. By inspecting the gearbox, the severe damage of the planet gears and weak damage of the sun gear were discovered. It is shown that the faults of planetary gearbox can be diagnosed based on traditional spectral analysis.
