Center for Public Safety Research, T singhua U niversit y, Beijing 1000 4, China) Abstract: A tw o-dimensional numerical model is established to satisfy the application needs of urban public secur-i ty emergency platform. The finite difference method has been employed in solving the hydrodynamic model equa- tions combined w ith the pollutant transportation equation to get the spatial and temporal distribution of the pollu- tant concentration. And then the GIS-based visualization of w ater pollution simulating results is studied. Through an experimental w ater pollution simulation in a river, the validity and practicability of the model are proved; and then the dynamic visualization of the simulating results is realized on ArcGIS platform.
