Section A Period 1
Teaching aims:
After the class, students can talk about what’s going on around them freely.
They can have a basic understanding of present continuous tense and be very familiar with the grammar structure.
They would like to join the class and enjoy cooperating with their partners.
Teaching contents:
Section A( 1a---1c)
Words and phrases: use the computer, watch TV, make soup, listen to a CD etc.
Grammar structure: sb be doing sth.
Eg. What are you doing? I am watching TV.
Are you watching Tv? Yes, I am./ No, I’m not.
Key and difficult points:
How to use present continuous tense.
Teaching methods:
Task-based methods, audio-lingual method, communicative approach
Teaching aids:
PPT, blackboard and English books.
Teaching procedure:
Step 1 warming- up and lead-in
Day: Thursday
Time: 3:15
What do you usually do at 3:15 on Thursdays?
I usually have an English class.
It’s 3:15 now. What are you doing now?
I am having an English class.
Step 2. Presentation
(T-S1-Ss pairs) What are you doing now?
I am watching TV/ washing the dishes.
Are you watching TV?
Yes, I am./ No, I’m not.
(play a song for the students ) Change I into he/she/ Susan
T:Who is singing? S:Justin Bieber.
T:What is Justin Bieber doing? S:He is sining.
T:Is he singing? S:No, he isn’t.
T: What is he doing? S: He is listening to a CD.
Use the same way to present other phrases like read a newapaper, do housework, talk on the phone etc.
Students are encouraged to make questions and answers by themselves.
Pair-work and group work are also included.
