Unit 7 It’s raining! Section A 1a-1c Zheng Ying Teaching Aims 1. Knowledge Objectives (1)Key words: rain, snow, cloudy, windy, sunny, weather. (2)Target language:--How is the weather in ...? --It’s... 2. Ability Objectives (1) Help the students master some new words about different weather. (2) Enable the students to talk about different weather. (3) Help the students develop the ability of making a weather report. (4) Develop the students’ abilities of listening speaking and writing. 3. Moral Objectives (1) Help students to enjoy the beauty of nature. (2) Help the students to understand that they can enjoy their lives in different ways in different weather. Teaching Key Point The students can be proficient at using “it is raining/ snowing/ cloudy /windy/ sunny …”. Teaching Procedures Step1 Greeting Step2 Lead-in Step3 Presentation and practice Present some pictures to teach the new words “rain, snow, cloudy, windy, sunny, weather”. Practice talking about the weather using “How is the weather? It’s cloudy/ windy/ sunny/ raining/ snowing.” Ss work in pairs or in groups. Show Ss pictures of different cities and teach the city names “ Boston, Moscow, Toronto”. Ss practice talking about weather in different cities using “How is the weather in...?” Step4 Activities in the text book Match the words with the pictures a-e. Listen and write the city names in the boxes. Read after the tape. Language points in the tape script. Step5 Consolidation 1. Activity1 Talking about weather on the phone (1) Give Ss an example by calling one student. (2) Divide Ss into six groups which belongs to different cities. Ss only know the weather in their city. To get other information, they need to listen to the phone calls. (3) Ask 3 pairs of Ss to make the phone calls. (4) Ss fill in the chart. 2. Activity2 Making
