II II Abstract Along with the thorough of economic restructuring, the income difference has aroused peoples more and more interests, the contradiction in the income distribution is always the focal point question which has not been solved in the reform. In fact,from international compares to see,at present the income difference in China have already surpassed the income difference of level in majorities of countries and the areas of the world. The excessively high income difference will directly influence the reform to carry on thoroughly, the stability of social and the popular feelings. This paper starts with the basic change path of the income difference in our country, on the basis of analyzing its characteristic thoroughly, the trend and origin as well as the influence to the economic development. Statistics have shown that the total inequality of income distribution and the income difference between cities and countryside，prosperous and remote areas，different industries have reached the highest in the world because of the break-through of international warning marks in the income difference of Chinese residents. Based on a fact that the income difference has both positive and negative effect on economic growth，this paper analyzes the influence of the income difference on economic growth in China by establishing a multivariate linear regression mode1 which includes four variables—total Gini Coefficient of China，rural Gini Coefficient of China，urban Gini Coefficient of China，rate of economic growth every year．Such influence changes with the change of time．During a short period following Chinas implementation of reform and opening up policy，the income difference have a positive influence on the economic growth in China．However，along with the passing of time，such positive influence has become weaker and weaker ， and eventually converted into negative effect．This paper ends with a number of suggestions on narrowing the income difference, which can adapt the request
