Abstract
To analyze the torsional random excitation of tracked veh icle ow ertrain system, the road surface
excitationw as transferred from frequency region to tmi e region based on given the statistical characteristics
of road roughness. The root of torsional random excitation w as investigated and theoretic calculating
formula w as ro osed. Then the dynam icsmodel of tracked vehicle w as constructed under different road
surface by abstracting each element of the veh icle mathematically. The torsional random excitation
s ectrum w as numerically calculated. The effects of road roughness, vehicle velocity and re-tension
having on torsional random excitationw ere dee ly stud ied. The investigated results indicated that the road
roughness and tracked vehicle s eed w ere the main factors to determ ine the value of torsional random
excitation.
