This is highly critical commitment – as always to make any transformation- to enable the members businesses to make improvement. This must never waver to make sure it is engrained in the culture * Key principles that the industry will live by and use to create their own policies and practices. It creates a common goal for all employees, it is urgent as no one wants to get injured. It allows and stipulates consequences – safety is a condition of employment Engagement is essential Managers are accountable Safety excellence drives excellence in business performance Safety is considered in all business plans and decision to know the risks and manage these (eliminate, reduce, mitigate) * Information and data banks for all members to use * Review of the work completed in 2010 (future activity comes later in the presentation) The key activities for the committee is to: Promote and live the six safety principles Safety metrics survey is one of the key communication tools as well as allowing organisation to see how they improved and compare in the industry. Safety webpage to store all the support materials they can access and implement as each member sees fit. More material is added as obtain them. Sharing safety alerts allows each member to prevent a similar incident to occur on their sites. Monthly news letters to communicate and update each member on progress and entice more to participate and engage. In 2010, 5 taskforces were commissioned, to tackle the top causes of fatalities within the industry: Falls from Height, Falling Objects, Moving Machinery, Road Rail incidents and Process Safety. SHCO meeting annually which is strongly supported with good activity from members as mentioned we had a significant renewal of the committee from 90 down to 20 and back to 95.
