量坐旦兰墅生望竺墨——一 量坐旦兰墅生望竺墨——一 重旦奎塑塑望!!!兰竺丝生皇壅婴 The Design and Realization of Inquiry·Oriented GIS Engine Computer Software and Theory Name：FengLi Supervisor：Prof．Li Lei Abstract In our economic construction and normal life，eighty percent information are related with gegraphic information．In GIS applications，high-efficent GIS engine is the core．Firstly，this article introduces the important theories and conceptions in GIS development， and then expatiates the data model of GIS：topologic and entity—oriented data model， and the main development history of GIS engine． This article brings forward a inquiry-oriented GIS engine·．SmartBase designed by author，and mainly discusses the functions and design architecture of SmartBase engine．SmartBase engine is a inquiry·oriented GIS engine，and is developed by author under Professor Li Lei’S guidance．It has following characteristics： entity—oriented data model，rapid spatial index technology，attribute inquiry， spatial inquiry， graphic display and SO on．The whole engine assimilates the idea of Map[nfo，Arcgnfo，Oracle Spatial GIS engine，adopts the entity-oriented data model． And this ensures the integrity and consistence of GIS data． This article also particularly discusses the hiberarchy of SmartBase engine．It adopts five layers：platform—crossed layer，store layer，spatial layer，spatial index layer，spatial calculation layer and display layer Platform，crossed layer encapsulates the lower layer of OS， offers a unified reference ways to the upper layer．This Can reduce the transplant work of the engine when it crosses OS platform。Store layer adopts attribute database plus spatial data file store model and SO erdaantes t11e efficiency．Spatial index layer adopts QTree spatial index technology and SO enhances the spatial inquiry efficiency．Spatial calculation layer particularly discusses the spatial algorithms：the basic vector calculation，region inquiry，K—nearest neighbor inquiry，around inquiry etc．At last，this article puts forward th
