Customers are in pursuit of experience and individuality, which presents new challenges to catering industry. The theme restaurants have appeared this kind of background, that would need to embody local features. Shanghai is a feature of Shanghai style culture, and Shanghai culture that is a combination of Chinese culture and western culture. The evolution process of Shanghai culture is rooted in Chinese traditional culture, absorb the Wuyue culture, Yangtze River culture, Beijing and other regional culture. Shanghai is at the edge of Jiangsu and Zhejiang area, mainly edified by Wuyue culture, but the immigrants from Zhejiang, Anhui and Guangdong provinces compose the middle and low classes of modern Shanghai society, which inject local elements into diverse Shanghai culture. The theme restaurants put the elements of Shanghai culture into restaurant design, which make time-honored Shanghai culture bright and clear in catering industry. At present, there are many local cuisine restaurants in Shanghai, it’s necessary to extract and apply the elements of Shanghai culture in catering industry for Shanghai.In theory, the theme restaurant design should research design orientation and detail analysis, explore the application elements of the theme restaurant under Shanghai culture in the practical level. According to research the theme restaurant of Shanghai culture, explore details from different angles and directions, deepen the analysis in the space design, and extract all levels of details of Shanghai culture, including architecture, interior, culture, display and other aspects of market research and data sorting, and make further exploration and deepening in
