These dysfunctions result from abnormal changes in cardiac structure and/or function caused by a variety of etiologies. The prevalence of heart failure in China is increasing. Echocardiography is the preferred method for assessing cardiac structure and function, and provides immediate information on chamber volumes, ventricular systolic and diastolic function, wall thickness, valve function, pulmonary hypertension, and the presence of pericardial effusion, while contributing to information on etiology.
