通过教学本文Thanksgiving Day 介绍感恩节这一北美传统节日的历史及有关习俗,并利用多媒体播放Family Album U. S. A. 中有关感恩节的章节,以增加学生对西方文化习俗的了解。
要求学生能用自己的语言简述感恩节的由来.

掌握强调句型,能较好地完成老师指定的练习。

弄清几个长句的句子结构。

Step 1. Revision of Words (10 minutes)
Play the tape and get the students to repeat the words after the tape with books open.
Get the students to close their books and have a dictation. (Ask one or two students to come out and write on the blackboard.)
Check their work with the whole class. (The others exchange their books with the neighbor and grade it.)
Step 2. Presentation (55 minutes)
Give a brief introduction about Thanksgiving Day.
Play the tape of the text for the students to listen with books open and try to get the main idea of the whole text.
Explain the language items in the text in details.

a) No other holiday (that is today widely celebrated in North America) has such a long and curios history as Thanksgiving.
