END * * * * * * * * * * Actran supports different types of excitations that can be applied on a windshield: Diffuse acoustic field: this is a reverberant field as typically observed in a reverberant chamber (as f.e. chamber 1 of the 2-chamber test describer above). Actran contains a diffuse field boundary condition, allowing an easy definition. Acoustic sources: this is another possibility to define an acoustic excitation, Mechanical forces: in some cases, one would like to apply directly forces to the windshield, this is perfectly possible, Aerodynamic noise: this is a quite unique feature in Actran where the user can specify a turbulent boundary layer excitation (taking into account a flow velocity = velocity of the car) which is conveniently synthetized by a mixed Corcos/Goody model. The physical model itself takes the following effects into account: Fluid/structure coupling: as always in Actran, the true coupling between fluid and structure is taken into account, Local stiffness of the body: this is a new development (under construction - should be ready by 09/2003) allowing to take the local stiffness of the body into account when analyzing a windshield.
